About Matt Brady · The full picture

Matt Brady is Australia’s leading Pressure Performance keynote speaker and the creator of Championship Neuro-Biology™. His work answers one question: how do you perform under pressure when it matters most? After 22 years studying why some people rise under pressure while others crumble, his answer is that pressure does not remove skill, it changes access to it, and that access is trainable. He created the Access Gap™ to measure the distance between trained capability and what a person can actually reach under real stakes, and built the Five Faces of Pressure™ (Performance, Outcome, Avoidance, Relational and Growth) and the Championship Cycle™ (Clarity, Certainty, Flow and Momentum). Matt works with CHROs, L&D leaders, C-suite executives and peer group chairs across EO, YPO, Vistage, CEO Institute and AICD. He is the author of The Back 9 and has spoken for organisations including Optus, Red Bull Australia, NAB, St.George, Ricoh and Channel 9 across Australia, Asia and the United States.

USING FEAR TO REDEFINE POSSIBLE

Fear is a powerful force that can either warn us or hold us back. It has the potential to prevent us from reaching our true capabilities. But guess what? There's a way to overcome fear and expand our comfort zone. Let me show you how.

Take a moment to think about Alex Honnold, the extraordinary climber who conquered El Capitan without a safety rope. Do you think he started with such a remarkable feat? Absolutely not! Alex started by climbing incrementally more difficult and scarier routes. By pushing his boundaries gradually, he expanded his comfort zone and built up invaluable experience and confidence. This prepared him for his ultimate achievement.

Now, let's shift gears to the legendary big wave surfer, Laird Hamilton.

When confronted with 10-foot waves, he sees them as mere ripples due to his vast experience riding much larger waves. Laird reminds us that our prior experiences shape our current perceptions.

Fascinating, isn't it?

If we truly desire to confront our stressors and tackle problems with unwavering confidence, we must adopt a similar approach. We must confront bigger stressors and problems head-on to put our current ones into perspective.

Now I am not suggesting you go and take on a challenge that is physically, socially or professionally outside of your abilities that would be just silly, what I am talking about is by gradually embracing larger and more challenging tasks, we will expand our comfort zone over time, making us more resilient to fear.

So, my friends, it's time to break free from the grip of fear and propel ourselves towards our goals. Start by taking small steps that push you just outside your comfort zone. Embrace those initial challenges and then gradually work your way up to bigger ones. With each triumph, your confidence will flourish, and you'll discover that what was once your biggest fear is now just another obstacle to overcome.

Remember, fear is a stepping stone on the path to success. Embrace it, conquer it, and let it propel you towards your limitless potential. Together, we can ignite our possible!
